Job Description:
TQ Education and Training is a provider of outsourced training services to the UK Ministry of Defence, other public sector organisations and private companies, both in the UK and overseas. TQ, as part of a Consortium, acquired the RE Army Apprenticeship Contract on 1 August 2011. We have an urgent requirement for a Contract Manager who will have overall responsibility for managing this MoD contract, in ensuring the Consortium delivers all the contractual obligations of the Royal Engineers Army Apprenticeships contract, and to also take advantage of every opportunity to expand the delivery of apprenticeships and related training with the Corps. Responsibilities to include:
- Ensure all delivery meets the requirements of the contract, taking overall responsibility for the management of student progress, attendance, retention and achievement.
- Build, manage and develop an effective team of staff and deliverers and ensure best use of made of the resources available.
- Build effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
- Monitor all management information and ensure we deliver our annual profile and achieve all our KPIs.
- Control costs effectively and work within budget.
- Grow the contract through the introduction and delivery of new apprentice frameworks and other related vocational qualifications.
- Attend all relevant review meetings and prepare accurate monthly reports and returns.
- Ensure the relevance and continuity of the curriculum within the Contract to comply with the needs of the Army and individuals.
- Ensure that the Consortium's commitment to student support is made available through regular reviews with appropriate access to learning support services.
- Liaise with appropriate staff, ie line managers, assessors and functional skills co-ordinators to maximise opportunities for independent learning and study for students, ensuring that materials are up-to-date and relevant.
- Manage a programme of teaching observations to monitor and promote effective teaching, learning and assessment.
- Manage the process of internal verification for the Contract.
- In relation to the Consortium, manage the process for and the contribution to the Self Assessment Report and Quality Improvement Plan.
- Follow all agreed Quality Assurance and Risk Management Systems operating both through the Consortium and on Army property and contribute generally to the establishment and development of a quality provision/service.
Requirements:
Essential
- Relevant Degree or equivalent relevant professional qualification, or a management qualification
- An understanding of developments in education, in particular Apprenticeships/Work Based Learning
- Business acumen and relevant experience in the industrial/commercial sector
- Proven and effective leadership and people-management skills
- The ability to build and maintain good/strong working relationships with the client, colleagues and staff
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a good sense of humour
- Highly organised with the ability to use own initiative and work with minimum supervision
- Excellent communication skills and an effective networker
- Good ICT skills
Desirable
- Training background or a teaching qualification
- The ability to influence and motivate others and to inspire confidence in both students and staff
- Military experience or a background in Further Education
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
