TQ - Delivering education & training
TQ was contracted to perform both General English and Basic Skills training to students prior to their employment as security guards and fire fighters at KPC facilities in Kuwait. Students were from 20 to 30 years old and the majority were without university-level education and training for their first job. Beginner-level English classes accounted for 90% of the students, based on the highly recognised LCCI FELSA Placement Test. Trainee numbers varied according to operational demands but TQ had over 1000 delegates in training at any one time. The course consisted of 36 weeks of study, and covered General English EFL and Basic Skills (ESP for Health and Safety, Industrial Information, Interpersonal Skills as well as English and Arabic Report Writing and Information Technology). The limited academic/ language skills of the trainees made off-the-shelf materials too demanding for the majority of trainees; thus TQ was contracted to develop all course materials for the project.
