Delivery of Key Skills to Army Training Regiment Bassingbourne (2001-2004)

TQ held a 3-year contract to provide the education package for the UK Army's special training scheme for school leavers. This involved the teaching of Information Technology, Numeracy and Communication Skills, and gathering evidence of Working with Others, Problem Solving and Improving Learning and Performance from the military content of the course. Successful recruits gained Key Skills qualifications at the end of their course. Approximately 400 recruits per year benefited from the scheme before moving on to Phase 2 training in their specific regiments. Part of the programme was delivered using TQ created internet-based Key Skills learning resources. This was combined with a conventional teaching and tutorial approach to ensure that each recruit achieved his/her maximum potential. Key to the success of this programme was TQ's ability to integrate educational provision into the military training programme and therefore help establish a life-long learning culture within the training curriculum.
