FloExtreme ICD (Production)

Overview

The FloExtreme ICD is designed for highly productive wells where there is a risk of erosion downstream of conventional ICDs due to high fluid velocity exiting the device.

The FloExtreme ICD Production can be applied to high-rate oil production wells, or gas production wells requiring high differential pressure across the ICD, or in applications where an erosion-corrosion wall loss mechanism may act on the base pipe internal diameter.
Fluid exiting a nozzle-based ICD will form a jet that can result in high shear stresses and subsequent erosion of the completion components downstream of the nozzle.

The FloExtreme ICD is installed within a conventional ICD housing on either TAQA’s FloRight premium, direct wrap screens, or on an independent mandrel (sub). The FloExtreme ICD features a sacrificial tungsten carbide energy dissipation cone downstream of the ICD nozzle. The dissipation cone diverts the flow in a radial direction to multiple exit points reducing the flow velocity and preventing impingement of the flow on the base pipe for production wells.
