TAQA’s Dr Mojtaba Moradi Recognised as Highly Commended Sustainability Advocate at the Oil & Gas Middle East Awards

TAQA is delighted to announce that Dr Mojtaba Moradi, our Global Subsurface Engineering Manager, has been honoured with the Highly Commended Award for Sustainability Advocate at the Oil & Gas Middle East Awards.

This award highlights Dr Moradi’s outstanding contribution to operational sustainability and his leadership in advancing lower-carbon energy practices across the Middle East and beyond.

Dr Moradi has led the development and optimization of the Flow Control Device technologies across major regional markets, including the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait, achieving remarkable improvements in environmental performance.

His work delivered:

  • Up to 51% reduction in carbon intensity
  • Up to 73% reduction in energy consumption
  • Significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and water production

His leadership has also extended globally, including a landmark project in the Peruvian Amazon where similar technologies contributed to substantial emissions reductions within a protected natural reserve.

Beyond technology and operations, Dr Moradi is committed to building capability across the sector. He actively mentor’s engineers across TAQA, supports graduate development programmes, and contributes to a wider energy community through his volunteer roles with the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

This recognition from the Oil & Gas Middle East Awards reflects not only his technical excellence but also his dedication to shaping a smarter, cleaner, and more responsible future for the industry.
